Bacon wrapped matzo ball

Can't We All Just Get Along?

At his restaurant in downtown Los Angeles, Top Chef Ilan Hall is wrapping a piece of bacon around a traditional matzo ball.

"It's a pretty simple recipe, except in place of vegetable oil, we use either rendered bacon fat or lard," he tells Weekends on All Things Considered host Guy Raz. "The pork fat makes it incredibly fluffy."

Bacon-Wrapped Matzo Balls

Bacon-Wrapped Matzo Balls

  • 18 eggs
  • 5 cups matzo meal
  • 3/4 cup of sparkling water
  • 3/4 cup of lard
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of baking powder
  • 5 tablespoons of salt
  • A handfull of dill

Blend eggs, dill, water, melted lard, baking powder and salt for 5 seconds, then mix in bowl with matzo meal. Allow to sit in refrigerator for 30 minutes, then roll small balls and add to boiling water. Then wrap in a half-slice of applewood-smoked bacon. Roast in oven at 400 degrees until crispy. Serve with shaved fresh horseradish and mayonnaise.

Kerry Crap

Because some things are just easy
By Vicki Needham - 03/14/11 02:26 PM ET

Democratic Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) will introduce bipartisan legislation later this week to create a federal infrastructure bank to fund projects around the nation, an aide told The Hill.

37 Word Instanalysis:
  • Kerry's never done anything bipartisan in his life
  • Kerry's never performed a selfless act in his life
  • This bank bill is poison

Because some things are just that easy

Black Racist MFCS

Quanell the 10th for the defense

CLEVELAND, Texas - Racial divisions have surfaced in the town of Cleveland, 40 miles north of Houston, ever since last Thanksgiving's alleged gang rape of an 11-year old Hispanic girl.

Most (if not all) of the 17 suspects accused of sexually assaulting the
11-year  old child are black. And on Thursday night, community activist Quanell X hosted a rally there.

Armed as they are with superior moral rectitude and importance of purpose, Liberals, when caught in the act, will easily defend themselves by citing someone else.  A fine example is when candidate Bill Clinton's whore mongering and serial adultery became an issue, and was responded to by Libs trotting out (mostly dubious) claims that Jefferson, FDR, and IKE were no batter (or just as good?).

Having been raised on the Liberal plantation, then,  Mr. Quanell  X, leader of the New Black Panther Party in Houston ,  showed adeptness in the skill.

"She lives in another community," Quanell X told the gathering. "You mean to tell me the only men that had sex with that girl were black men, locked up in that jail?"
Quanell X

Racial divisions have surfaced? No, stark, blatant black racism is what it's called.

That eagle link from mary is excellent, but not embeddable  I searched and found what appears to be the same eagle, in real time, but one I can embed (above) .  Check out the recorded eagle stuff in the right column.  Thanks mary, you helped make me feel better about things in general.  Stop by and we'll have tea and play Scrabble.

Chernobyl sounds scary

Three Mile Island and Chernobyl
sounds scary, right?
We're Toast! We're Toast!

There is no question that the events in Japan are ongoing and serious. That said, I believe a lot of people are being misled by much of the news coverage.  Take a look at these headlines from the Christian Science Monitor and from Channel News Asia -

US experts fear 'Chernobyl-like' crisis for Japan

“Three Mile Island” and “Chernobyl” sounds scary, right?
Let me ask a couple of questions?  How many were killed by the Three Mile Island incident?

Answer here
via Nuclear power perspective. by James Watts

Some of the comments :

Compare those figures with the deaths from renewables. in one incident alone over 170,000 died in China when the Banqiao hydroelectric dam failed. Greenpeace et al never ever mention this of course.

UNSCEAR says 4,000 deaths attributable to Chernobyl whereas Greenpeace says 100,000 (but they would, wouldn't they?)

...  it looks like the Japanese reactor now has no secondary containment (and it was not a secondary concrete pressure vessel as at TMI) but as in the UK, a simple corrugated iron building on a steel frame.
