Enigmatic Faces

The Mona Lisa's enigmatic look may have been solved after a recent cleaning (NSFW Roll Over), but this?  He's not a phantom. nor is this an opera, so what does her look imply?  Fear? Thrillful  anticipation?  Being reunited with her junior high boyfriend?  Will we ever really know?

March 19 2011 Full Moon
The full moon of March was 221,565 miles (356,575 kilometers) on Saturday, March 19 just 50 minutes after it hit its full phase, making it the biggest and brightest full moon since 1993. The "supermoon" phenomenon occurred because the moon was in its full phase and just 50 minutes past perigee – the point of its orbit that brings it closer to Earth. (source:

Did you miss it? No problem. Taken mostly from Flickr photographers from all around the world, here are ten of the best supermoon photos we've seen.

Carol Moseley Braun

Just Because
The dumbest person EVER to be a
U.S. Senator doesn’t understand

Carol Mosley Supid-Bitch
"With this fund-raising being as successful as it is, as God is my witness, I will not go hungry again." -- Moseley-Braun

Carol Felsenthal: When was the last time you talked to Carol Moseley Braun? Does she plan another political race?

Tom Carey: I called her today. She wants to sit down and talk to me. I think she’s perplexed about her role in public life. She wants to know how she stays politically alive. How can she come back? She wants to understand fully what happened—she doesn’t understand yet. [Tom Carey, Adviser to Carol Moseley Braun, Weighs in on Her Campaign]
Some things are just so horribly wrong from the get-go, that I can never forgive or forget the trauma I incurred just living through them.  I mean, where I was forced to reevaluate every truth ever held; where 1+1 was suddenly 7.   Sen. Carol Moseley Braun is one.

The Windbreaker

The Windbreaker - Game Changer

The Battalion 9 of the 401st armored brigade made military history today.

The "Windbreaker" (Me'il Ruach) anti-tank missile defense system (aka Trophy) designed by Rafael that was installed in unit's tanks back in 2009 was automatically activated by a tank in/near Gaza that came under missile attack today.
Joe Settler

What's really significant about this system is it was used successfully by the Israelis (who developed it).  I'll bet that you too can imagine other stunning applications for the technology.  Can you say virtual shield?   The size of a town, city, state, or country?  Too expensive right now?  Not if we dismantle entirely our mommy state, and provide the necessary things for the nation's defense (per the Preamble to the U/S. Constitution). Anyway, I am buoyed!  Joe Settler has more.

Anthony Bourdain - Second Chance

Anthony Bourdain Re-visited

After the show's first three episodes aired on Fox, the show was put on hiatus due to Fox's coverage of the Major League Baseball playoffs. In November 2005, Fox announced the show would not air during sweeps The show returned on December 5, 2005, with its fourth episode, though only received 3.38 million viewers. Four days later, Fox announced that they canceled the series. Currently all 13 episodes are available via Hulu and a complete series DVD collection has been released. and that only 13 episodes would be produced as it was only averaging 4 million viewers. [Kitchen Confidential (TV series)]

After yesterday's mini-rant about Anthony Bourdain's Liberal bent, a number of comments instructed me that the man may have changed.  In the process of looking stuff up, I discovered that his book Kitchen Confidential had been made into a television series. I haven't watched yet, but I will. Including this --  if I can find it.

In July 2006, Bourdain was in Beirut filming an episode of No Reservations when the Israel-Lebanon conflict broke out. Bourdain and his crew were evacuated with other American citizens on the morning of July 20 by the United States Marines.[11] Because of the unexpected conflict only a few hours of footage were available from the first restaurant on their agenda. Bourdain's producers compiled the Beirut footage into a No Reservations episode which aired on August 21, 2006. Uncharacteristically, the episode included footage of both Bourdain and his production staff, and included not only their initial attempts to film the episode, but also their firsthand encounters with Hezbollah supporters [Wikipedia]

Baby Talk

Hi Everybody!
It's breakfast with the Real King of France and MoSup-toinette

Visit for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

MoSup is the designated Today Show watcher, so this morning we are made aware that the "sneeze baby" family were guests. That prolly explains why mom yanked the video from You Tube (claiming content violations) - she sees commercial possibilities.

In the same segment, (available after this one) was a mother who watched as her nine-year old was crossing the highway with her five-year old sister to catch the school bus.  When a truck came barreling down on them, the eldest shoved her sister out of the way a millisecond before being run over herself.  Amazingly she survived, after losing a leg and sustaining other serious injury (the school bus driver resuscitated the pulseless child after arriving).

MoSup was extremely annoyed with that interview, which was conducted  baby talk style (why did you save your sister?), and neglected entirely to ask mom, "what was going through your mind; allowing your daughters to cross a busy highway by themselves?"

Pass the eggs-Benedict.
