'There's an attempt to marginalize people who hold views that are sharply different'

“We must also concern ourselves with the continued danger we face from individuals within our own borders who may be motivated by a variety of other causes from anti-government animus to racial prejudice,” Holder said.
The Justice Department is resurrecting a program designed to thwart domestic threats to the United States, and Attorney General Eric Holder says those threats include individuals the government deems anti-government or racially prejudiced.

The Domestic Terrorism Executive Committee was created in the wake of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing but was scrapped soon after the 2001 terrorist attacks as intelligence and law enforcement officials shifted their focus to threats from outside the country. The committee will be comprised of figures from the FBI, the National Security Division of the Justice Department and the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee.

In his statement announcing the return of the committee, Holder said he remains concerned about the specter of attacks prompted by Islamic extremists, but he said this committee will be tasked with identifying other threats.

“We must also concern ourselves with the continued danger we face from individuals within our own borders who may be motivated by a variety of other causes from anti-government animus to racial prejudice,” Holder said.

According to reporting from Reuters, the American Civil Liberties Union is pushing back against the DOJ plan, fearing “it could be a sweeping mandate to monitor and collect controversial speech.”

Conservative groups are alarmed on multiple levels. First, they see themselves once again the target of an administration that disagrees with them philosophically.

“It appears there’s an attempt to marginalize people who hold views that are sharply different from those of the administration and much of the establishment, said Horace Cooper, co-chairman of the Project 21 National Advisory Board. Project 21 is a network of black conservatives.

FDA Gone Wild

       WHAT THIS GUMMINT DOES

    TEXT

We warned at the time that the ill-conceived Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) of 2011 would tend to choke off many non-industrial food sources. Now the FDA, interpreting FSMA as part of its regulatory process, is moving to ban the aging of cheese on wooden boards, a process that dates back thousands of years and has been practiced safely by many of the world’s finest cheese makers. The agency apparently intends to apply the same standard to imported cheese as well, which means that in addition to devastating artisanal cheese producers in this country, the move would cut off Americans’ access to large numbers of classic European cheeses, many of which, like Comte and Reblochon, “are required to be aged on wood by their standard of identity.” [Jeanne Carpenter, Cheese Underground (Wisconsin); Matt Spiegler, Cheese Notes]

Our coverage of FSMA, including its many-sided impact on traditional and artisanal farm and food practice, is here

And remember boys and girls, the FDA have their own Swat Team.  Several years ago I made a somewhat tortured argument that all laws carry with them, ulimately, the death penalty.  Ahem.

GREEN CRAP

This may come as a shocker to some, but scientists are not always right — especially when under intense public pressure for answers.

Researchers with the IUCN Polar Bear Specialist Group (PBSG) recently admitted to experienced zoologist and polar bear specialist Susan Crockford that the estimate given for the total number of polar bars in the Arctic was “simply a qualified guess given to satisfy public demand.” [Full]

"Under intense public pressure for answers?" Is that too, too, precious, or what? “... simply a qualified guess given to satisfy public demand!”  Egad.

The global climate alarmists, with their promise of taking the problem to heel by regulating human endeavor, date back to Paul Ehrlich's Population Bomb's premise of "too many people, too much consumption fraud."  None of his predictions came through, but never mind, he'd developed a cult following.  In the following four decades, advocacy of global cooling, then global warming, and now climate change, all caused by human behavior,  and therefore controllable by the right people making the right laws—all of it has been marked by fraud, lies and deceit.  All if it.  And to now excuse themselves by pleading "simply a qualified guess given to satisfy public demand.”  Demand for what?  More government funding.  More control over the economy?  That's what?

If ever you want to know whether a politician is worthy of your vote, Google "NAMEsupports climate change legislation"  If it comes up positive, that person is shallow, and willing to go with the popular flow at best, and at worst just insanely stupid. No exceptions.  A nice party trick would be to ask guests to find a single elected Democrat who passes muster. Ahem.
