I read all of John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee novels as a young man and wondered why there were no movies. Years later I stumbled upon one on TV and Sam Elliot played Travis McGee. It was a travesty. I like Sam Elliot but he was a terrible choice for McGee. Suchet, on the other hand, is a near perfect Poirot.
