  3. MANY years ago, a great uncle of mine had a rod knocking in a Model T, so he dropped the pan and used the tongue out of an old shoe to make a pad for the rod bearing, then he traded it off. Much later, he bought a used T off of a car lot, and shortly it started knocking. He soon discovered that he had bought back his knocking T, complete with his shoe leather.
