Long Knives

Bad as that sounds, the nation would be far better served by the above scenario than having the precedent of a (possibly, legally) elected President order the head of one of the country's largest corporations to quit for rank political purposes.  Mussolini had more tact, Hitler more sense.  I'm starting to have doubts about this Obama fellow.  He is definitely not invited to the crab feast.
UPDATE
Rick Wagoner's ousting had more to do with politics than his ability to revive GM

Well, at least now we know who's running General Motors. The Obama White House, in an extraordinary expansion of the government's reach, Sunday demanded and got the head of Rick Wagoner, the automaker's embattled chief executive. In doing so, the president brushed aside GM's board of directors, selected by shareholders and entrusted with the power to hire and fire executives, and assumed that role for himself.

While GM's board had been often restless with the transformation of GM under Wagoner's leadership, it maintained its confidence in his ability to get done a very tough job.

Shareholders can read the handwriting on the wall -- this isn't their company anymore.

The crabs are disappointed. They were looking forward to Kenyan à la Mussolini.

  3. Ya know, back in the days when the resume was a guiding element in a common sense society, this would have been a little like the janitor firing the president of the company.

On a closely related note. I'm a Ford man. But I'll never buy another product built by the UAW. EVER!

  4. Now, you know Wagoner didn't step down just because he was asked nicely. He was told, "Step down or we'll..."

It's the "or we'll..." part that I really want to know about.

  5. This is a lot like a Chicago mob boss encouraging a local Chevy dealer to make the boss's cousin a part-owner in the business -- or else something unfortunate might occur.

  6. I think it's a lot more like a certain Venezuelan dictator giving foreign companies impossible to fulfill mandates, and then nationalizing them.

  7. General Motors (Gubment Motas) is now officially Airbus. All we need is Canada and Mexico to buy big percentages of shares.

  9. This Wal-Mart already has designated parking spaces for horses and buggies. There's a hitching post and everything.

(BTW, the boys in the pic aren't Amish.)

  11. This is just a giant step toward the nationalization of the country's major businesses. Chrysler will be the next to be dictated to by the Kommissar. After that it will be the major oil companies, beginning with Exxon-Mobil.

Joe Stalin and the Ayatollah Khomeni would be so very proud of Komrade Zero, as would Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, and Joseph Engels.

  12. Hmmm, I don't think the genius boys considered Ford not taking the bait. This gives Ford an advantage, well thats not fair.

I guess thats where Geitner the Elf can just take over a company that poses a threat to the economy.

These boys are way too big for their britches.

  13. I won't risk a snarky response by asking why Gettelfinger, President of the UAW, didn't get booted by teh One.
