scream-of-consciousness;
"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."
What
did make news last week was a neighborhood association’s quibble with
how the 90-year-old veteran chose to fly the American flag outside his
suburban Virginia home.

I do remember this story from Christamstime last, but was unaware of the details.
I still have a small problem with this story. His MOH is not relevant to the facts. If you choose to live in a community with such rules you should follow them or move. No one made him live there. Tim
I RESPECTFULLY disagree. A Medal of Honor winner should be allowed to do anything he--or she--damn well pleases as long as it does not harm any other person or property. Obviously this rules out DUI for example, but generally should allow conduct such as this.
The community's rules and bylaws did not forbid a flagpole, the home owner's association forbade it after he installed it simply for "Aesthetic reasons"
This was a case of HOA Nazis making up the rules as they went along, not Col. Barfoot failing to obey the rules in his HOA bylaws.
