LANSING,
Mich. (AP) -- Michigan Republican Party Chairman Ron Weiser talks
enthusiastically about welcoming tea party supporters into the GOP, but
he wasn't planning to give them his seat at the state convention.
Michigan tea party supporters flocked to Republican party meetings
across the state this month and won several hundred delegate seats for
the Saturday state convention, including Weiser's. Now, the activists
are positioned for an attempt to push the Michigan GOP further to the
right and put hard-core conservatives on November's general election
ballot.

I wonder if Michael, Newt and the RNC are starting to get the picture. Probably not but we can only hope.

This makes me wonder if the party conventions may end up being like conventions of old: Candidates you thought were nominated would suddenly be 'pushed aside' as factions wheeled and dealed. Today, conventions are just a show put on for the press.
ReplyDeleteImagine if some RINO McCain like candidate picked by the party leadership is dethroned suddenly during the convention?
Sorry I can't recall where I heard the phrase used to describe the TEA Partiers to give it proper attribution but the gist of it runs like this ... What we have here is a hostile takeover of the GOP by the TEA Party. And about damn time by my lights.
