Bison v Grizzly

Grizzly After Medium Rare Bison

It was a bison, badly burned from an encounter with one of the numerous hot spots in Yellowstone National Park.

...

A grizzly was chasing the buffalo (which was practically cooked already) and gaining quickly.

....

The two beasts passed the man by without paying any notice.

The result: these 14 hair-raising pictures.

We pick our tale up where the photos end.

Wypiszinski says once in the safety of the woods the bison out maneuvered the grizzly, escaping to live exactly one more day.

Park rangers had to put the bison down due to the injuries it sustained.

Wypiszinski said the whole event was over just as quickly as it happened.

Just another day in Yellowstone National Park. [Full story and 14 pictures]

  1. Such a heart break to see that bison suffering the ravages of a hot spring. However, better if the bear got to eat him than just be put down by a ranger.

  5. The bear's thought. Why would I want to gnaw on a stringy funny tasting human when there is this wonderful smelling BBQ on hoof All I got to do is catch it.

Buffalo thought, Someone shoot Me please so I wont be eaten alive.

The man with the camera's thought. Oh S*** Ho S*** Oh S***..

  7. I don't know about you, SherryM, but I've been known to snag a bit of cold cut on my way to the barbecue for another full-size hamburger.
Maybe the bear isn't as easily distracted as I am.
