Perhaps
the least edifying aspect of the News of the World saga has been the
sanctimonious fervour of the liberal-left wallowing in a stew of its
own self-righteousness. We’ve had more than a whiff of this putrescent
cant here at Telegraph blogs.
Two days ago my colleague David Hughes made the perfectly
unexceptionable – and indeed true – point that the media campaign had
been orchestrated to a frenzied pitch by the BBC and the Guardian,
partly to have a go at David Cameron, partly to have a dig at their
Murdoch nemesis. To read some of the comments below you’d think he’d
called for the beatification of Uday Hussain.

The
Telegraph's James Delingpole is here
discussing the British liberal-left (actually, world liberal left)
response to the the hacking
cock-up that I scarcely know beans about because I could care
less.
However, when it comes to sanctimonious religious outrage, not even
whack
Islamos can compete with the liberal-left. What I see here then
is a
nice book-end template, with attribution of course, that American bloggers
can use to frame our own weekly
(daily) examples of twats-gone-wild.. You're welcome.

No one has a less deserving claim to the moral high ground than the
liberal-left, for in the name of making our “society” kinder and fairer
it is actually eroding our freedoms, stealing our livelihoods, stoking
resentment and social division, destroying our economic future. Yet
daily we go on letting these disingenuous bleeding heart scuzzballs get
away with it. Why? |

"Yet daily we go on letting these disingenuous bleeding heart scuzzballs get away with it. Why?"
ReplyDeleteBecause murder is illegal? Kim Du Toit once wrote a wonderful essay named "The Pussification Of The Western Male". It pretty much outlines the "why" of this siuation.
Kinda like Charlie Rangle's latest 'what would Jesus do?' about the US debt. All emotion and no logic.
