I have found over the years that Elmore Leonard, while a top author, is very hard for me to read. But that's just me. And I agree with Anonymous that Vince Flynn is an extremely good writer in his genre, but Brad Thor is running a very close second.

Elmore Leonard is one of my all time favorites-and my favorite one is Killshot-crackiling dialog and a furious pace.

If you like us being the good guys, Vince Flynn is the real thing-his last one, American Assassin, was a cover to cover read for me.
Aside form that it's mostly glass melting furnace manuals and chemistry-yawn

Tell Them Valdez is Coming was one of Leonard's best, IMHO, and the movie was one of Burt Lancaster's best, too.
