Um let's see you come across light years of space you have lights on the exterior of your craft and crash in the desert when there are perfectly good landing strips all over the place???? The landing was rough some brain damage was sustained voila next generation of democrats.
Astro-physicist/ sf writer Fred Hoyle wrote something in the 60's postulating that the entire universe was an artifact of an incredibly old and advanced civilization or being.
Mentioned that this brought up unfortunate comparisons to bronze age deities...
