When Milton Speaks ...

It's so simple ...

Rodger,

This video clip is perhaps the single most impactful explanation in support of the free market. Milton Friedman does more with a pencil than anyone I have ever known.

  1. Too bad that straightforward explanation goes over the heads of all the socialist ratbastards in WASHDC. - Skyhawker, Doug

Saw a neat exchange between James Pethokoukis (free-market economist) and David Goodfriend (Clinton political worm) on Kudlow (CNBC) last night. Pethokoukis cited Friedman in defense of free market policies. Goodfriend screamed that Friedman had been "disproved". Jimmy P asked Goodfriend something like "OK, you don't like Friedman. Who do you like? Karl Marx?"

There is no intellectually valid left-wing economics. Keynesianism only exists as an excuse for government control and redistribution. Real economists call what they do either "classical" or "Austrian".

  4. I have downloaded the Phil Donohue segments, as well as one where Friedman dismantles a young and SKINNY Michael Moore, and several others. The Free To Choose series can be found at:
    http://freetochoose.net/
along with lots of other support for Friedman's free market message. The Free To Choose series can be played in the original 1980 version or the updated 1990 version. That one has an intro by Arnold Schwarzenegger (of all people!).

I picked off this particular clip from Mark Levin's show site. At the conclusion of the clip there, there are many other Friedman clips you may want to download.

  5. This is also straight out of Adam Smith (Wealth of Nations) who used nails, I think, to make the same point.

  6. Milton Friedman taught the Chicago Boys that returned home to Chile" and while Pinochet killed commies, they built a solid economy.

  7. The tactics of Marx, et al, is to ignore the system they are promoting and can't defend and point up the problems with capitalism. No shit... capitalism is a human system and, as such, will always have faults. It is also the system that has improved the well being of more people than any other. For all its faults, capitalism has worked whenever tried while socialism has failed whenever attempted.

On this earth, you cannot have the perfect so settle for the good.

  11. Anon: He was a Keynsian during WWII, and actually thought taxes were a public good back then. Yes, he did a lot of damage while he was working for FDR.

He got over that when he finally grew up.

A lot of folks do dumb-assed things when they were kids.
