scream-of-consciousness;
"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."

In a FLASH! he was free!
Sweet Juice!
We weren't expecting to get our power back (lost it Fri night) until next weekend. Inside house temp 85, outside heading to 100 again. Air cond. id on. Refrigerator is on. Freezer is on. I'm drained.
I watched that same storm here in Columbus. The sky turned so ugly (picked up lots of dust from road construction) so fast, I had an actual foreboding I've never felt from weather before. Not I, but lots of folk lost their electricity around here. During Hurricane Ike, I was down for 4 days. Glad to hear you got it back expeditiously enough, Rodg.
Still no juice here in Annapolis, and, hell, I even live in the same neighborhood as the mayor. If you have to live that close to Democrats and still can't get any service, why bother.
The company above is working on an asynchronous version (it can run when the power from the grid is dead).
Power outages may become more common due to a couple factors:
*Nuke plants are getting old and shutting down.
*Coal plants are forcibly being shutdown.
*The 'renewable' bullshit investments (wind & solar) are seriously destabilizing the electrical grid. More here on that: http://web.mit.edu/mitei/research/reports/intermittent-renewables.html
This is getting weird. What did DC do, turn around and blow that storm back at us? I'm seeing right now water cascading off the skyscrapers, and my tree bent almost in half from the wind. It's like Columbus turned into the tropics all a sudden.
Also happy to hear that Zero is slated to close dozens of coal fired power plants...Rodger, come by and get my generator. we're solar powered so will do fine without it. RAK
West Virginia is only about 99.98% job dependant on the coal mines. The other 0.02 % work at Wallyworld. You should see the state elected Libtards trying to cover their hindends over Jug Ears EPA rulings.
Yamaha and Honda make sweet little generators, about 2000 W peak, light enough for one person to carry, very quiet. Verry quiet compared to those things on frames.
Had a four day power out in NJ and kept that thing running through it all. One extension cord through a basement window to keep a freezer and 2nd refrig going, one through a window for an electric light and internet and computer and recharge phone. Worked like a chanp.
I have a battry carbon monoxcide sensor in the basement and I keep the generator well away from windows.
You don;t know how much a few bright electric lights (as opposed to candels or flashlights) improve your disposition.
And being able to web surf or watch Netscape for hours on end with nothing else requiring attention was almost fun.

ReplyDeleteGlad to see you're back to contributing to Glow-Ball Warmening again.

Very long and technical read

Remember to hydrate, Rodge.
ReplyDeleteWe can barely make it up to 90ยบ in Sarasota. Obviously other areas of the country are stealing our heat.
Two simple solutions: either cut down all the trees near enough to fall on power lines or bury the power lines!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could help!
My brother-in-law in Columbus OH still has his power out and they're telling him it may be out most of the week.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I moved to Florida 25 years ago into the path of hurricanes and they've been hit up there with hurricane-type weather more times than I have!
This made me larf -

Here are my immediate environs Any tree that falls withing the electrical grid takes out everyone's power.
WAIT till the real SHTF comes...now they say preppers aren't so crazy after all.

And Newt said that this is a mild indication of what an EMP attack will be like. . .
ReplyDeleteAll gas stations are electrically powered. I've never seen one with a backup generator..
Try asking your cell phone provider how long their service will be up when the grid crashes.
