[I'm Bob] Dole, a
former Kansas Senator defeated by Bill Clinton 16 years ago, said the
party should follow his example of "mainstream" Republicanism and
become more appealing to ethnic minorities and young people to secure
its future.
"We have got to be open," he said in an interview with The Daily
Telegraph. "We cannot be a single-issue party or single-philosophy
party". He added: "There's a big split in our party. There's this
undercurrent of rigid conservatism where you don't dare not toe the
line". -[Full

I'm
actally embarrased for Bob Dole. Not for the first time. Too bad.
Bob
Dole served his country well. Then he ran for congress.
Now, this
self-parody. Sigh.

Not being a Republican, I cannot speak for Bob Dole. I am not a single issue person. I believe in BOTH the rule of law and the right to own property.

Ah yes, wisdom from the "tax collector for the welfare state". But as usual, Bob Dole is an infallible guide; whichever direction he points, we must head in the exact opposite direction.
ReplyDeleteIf the Republic is to be saved, Romney must confront and defeat the forces of big government, including the CPUSA (i.e. the Dems) and most of the Republican party (including all of its current leadership).
No compromise on taxes; no tax increases. Repeal Obamacare and Dodd-Frank. Return spending to 2006 levels (i.e. before Pelosi) at least. Stop the Fed from monetizing the Federal debt. That's only a start.

ReplyDeleteUh huh. I sure hope you got Plan B waiting in the wings Steve because Mitt is not the Shit. He's Bob Dole.
I note that Dole once said "Honorable compromise is no sin." That's a good description of asking for another whack when your ass is spanked at a fraternity hazing.
ReplyDeleteTwo data points are one too many. No more crippled war heroes for GOP presidential candidates please. R&R makes Obama and Biden look like an elderly heroin addict leading around an Alzheimer patient. And that is enough to win the election.
ReplyDeleteI think this should be obvious to an citizen, but ringing like a bell in the night to senior politicians: If Republicans can't deliver tort reform and regulatory relieve when they control Congress and the Presidency, they can't protect us nationalization, election fraud, treasury looting, fuel production moratoriums, and the general assault on free markets.
I can find nothing to disagree with here, and particularly like the Newt witticism.
