scream-of-consciousness;
"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."
Put aside your girly-man .458 Win Mag
or your wimpy .50 cal and watch these guys shoot a real gun, the
largest center fire rifle ever made, the .950 JDJ by SSK Industries.
Only three were ever made. This was the lightest, the carbine version,
weighing in at 50 lbs. It shoots a .95 caliber 2,400 grain bullet at
2,100 fps using 240 grains of powder, which generates 25,400 f/lbs of
muzzle energy and 277 f/lbs of recoil energy. Each round costs $40.
What I want to see is what they were shooting at and to see the hole it left. Even if you mount that baby onto a jeep or tank I bet you the recoil will make them jump backwards.
Just thinkin here, just thinkin, fired at an engine bock wouldn't just crack the sucker....like buddy wrote 0.5 short of being officially artillary. Jesus Christ!
Sorry to have mis-spoke about the American designed Christie tank... the first practical modern tank(with the tracks removed, it could be driven at high speed on roads)...However, it suffered from a thin skin armor, like that fat Christie governor...
Until you get about a million of them in the field, backtracking the destruction to a particular rifle won't be too difficult.
Alternatively, there is a real interesting crop of 12 GA sabot ammo available over the counter.
While I'm fairly sure that even a smoothbore shotgun will imprint unique barrel marks on the "wad" that could be matched to a gun/ other crime scene.... You can get a shotgun at wallyworld for about $200.00 so it's kind of a disposa-gun.
I think we're on the same page. Gummint drones, traffic cams, and Marine snipers in Afghan.
ReplyDeleteGee... I've always wanted to go hunting for diesel locomotives.
ReplyDeleteQ: what would you shoot with one of these?
ReplyDeleteA: Absolutely ANYTHING you want!
I note that the article doesn't mention range, but the term "clear into next week" would seem to apply here.
That's about .05 cal short of being an "official" artillery piece.
Now all I have to do is win the Power Ball and sweet-talk them into making a 4th one!
An after-thought: with a 2400 grain projectile, does it come with its own missile silo standard or as an option?
Hey! I can dream about Michelle Jenneke; I can dream about gun pron!
Ok, that puppy is intimidating. Firing that would probably give me incurable shooters flinch
ReplyDeleteConsidering the round, I'd say it's good for about 100 yards. It looks like a 22 short on steroids.
ReplyDeleteStill, near misses should cause temporary heart stoppage and severe diarrhea.
I like the song but it is ANNOYING during the video.
ReplyDeleteTim
I can't remember seeing a gun better fitted to the shooter. Can we plz have a looped gif of those jowls recoiling?
ReplyDelete"I can hold it."
"Pull up, Porkins"
If a .50 can bust an engine block, I don't think I need anything larger. But I want a fuzed frag round to take out drones.

ReplyDeleteAt 2,400 grains that is just a bit above a three pound bullet.
ReplyDeleteYeah, thinkin' the music should have been the Stones' "Gimme Shelter."
ReplyDeleteRev. Spud - I got about 5.5 OZ.
ReplyDeleteAnon,
ReplyDeleteDitto.

I was thinking; prolly would have been cheaper to make a shoulder stock for a pack howitzer.
