I thought this was one of those "which one of these is not like the others" game. Of course, the first is not like the other two since, although they are all well past their useful lives, the second two were both useful and ingenious for a significant period of time.

ReplyDeleteAnd I remember how jealous I was of the "rich" kids who had commercial book covers, available for about a nickel each at the 5&10.
And that phone? That was the pre-war model from Ma Bell. The handset weighed about 7 pounds, which kept her from talking on the phone too long.

And if you didn't take care of the phones, Ma Bell sent the Phone Police around to talk to you. Just ask Johnny Fever.
