What happened? They did what the democrats did when the reps were blocking them in the senate. They invoked the nuclear option. The reps decided to forego/cancel the Hastert rule. It's like the pirate's code. Not a rule, more like a "guideline".
When I was a lowly elected official and was given crap for violating the rules I would make a motion to suspend rules and usually got my way because most wanted my mouth to get me in trouble by speaking freely. Suspend rules and Bohner walks. Most of the new guys that were elected even a year ago have not figured out the game yet.

ReplyDeleteAt least they only funded DHS through Feb 2015. So the new Congress will get a chance to put an end to the executive amnesty.
