Just for the record: That Bluto quote is probably derivative of "As your attorney, I would advise you to start drinking heavily" a quote that predates Bluto, and is attributed to Oscar Zeta Acosta, aka "The Brown Buffalo". The advice was proffered to Hunter S. Thompson, aka "Raoul Duke" and "Dr. Gonzo".
Okay, that was a sumbitch. The worst part was they gave me epinephrine in a dose high enough that it set me to shaking. Hated that. The dentist helper though was just lovely. I'm gettin a post too juice (in 3 months).
Stu! Thanks very much for that. A few of us were re-hydrating after a high power rifle match on Sunday, when the quote came up in conversation. The Bluto source was the first one that came up and so that was as far back as we went looking it up.
Sir H...'Just free-associating on Hunter S. Thompson (one of my heroes, but not a role model), who would have been taking on liquids before, during and after the rifle match; he once said that "Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms" sounded like his shopping list!
When Imus sidekick Bernard McGurk learned that Thompson had blown his brains out while on the phone with his wife, he quipped, "Who among us has never wanted to do that?"
