scream-of-consciousness;
"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."
Yup. Machines are cheaper than coolies (or insert your favorite term for low-paid, low-skilled, possibly foreign workers).
This also fits the model where all work is done by machines and whatever people are left are paid to be consumers. The welfare system is already moving in this "paid to be consumers" direction. McDonald's will automate order-taking and as many other jobs as possible, but could the company survive without all the welfare recipients who patronize it?
Our microwave gave up the ghost on Sunday. Drove to our little town and gave Walmart, Kmart, home town Sears and Lowes a shot. Came home and found the one I wanted on Amazon-Smile and it arrives today. Don't know if Bezos and I agree on anything but the guy seems to have this one thing figured out.
Amazon is having a problem in some areas. They did a contract with the US Parcel Post Service. However some post offices are managed by bozo's. They've disabled the locks on their large boxes, and if a package is too large to fit into a standardized mail box the postal dick will leave a message, Attempted to deliver, and if you want your package you have to go to the post office. Now Amazon has decided it is going to have to start up its own delivery service since USPS and FedEx have pretty much failed the two day delivery. UPS hasn't been too bad in my area, but they are more expensive. So Amazon is leasing aircraft, looking to own their own trucks, trying to start a food delivery service, and in some areas trying out drone delivery for small standardized package.
People. We don' need no steenking people!
ReplyDeleteA veritable techno ballet!
not many min. wage jobs there.

So that's how two day shipping works so well! I'm interested in seeing who or what keeps that place so spic and span. (not a racist comment ;-p)
