Six
NATO countries squared off last week in the Strong Europe Tank
Challenge, a two-day competition that pitted some of the alliance’s
best tank crews against each another in a series of events centered on
armored warfare. The challeng was the first of its kind there since
1991.
The challenge featured seven tank platoons in total. Denmark, Germany,
Italy, Slovenia and Poland all competed with one platoon, while the
United States sent two. Each platoon included four tanks manned by four
men. Germany took the gold in its Leopard 2A6 tanks, followed by
Denmark and Poland in second place and third place respectively, while the U.S. Army in the M1A2 Abrams
didn’t place.
I
am mildly surprised that the Abrams tank, the preeminent tank in the
world just 8 years ago, had lost some edge; but JFC! The U.S.
Army in
the M1A2 Abrams didn’t place? And that's against NATO
tanks.
Like all of you, the Obama occupation has been a nightmare event for
me; but I, we here, have done just about all we could do without .. you
know—being responsible for a slew of Obama Highs, and Obama
airports.
However, and I'm not making this up, while I am grateful for a
long
life of living in the greatest country the world has known, a
current blessing is that I am 95 years old, and waiting for my ship to
sail into the sunset. Oh, one other thing, knowing my kids will
eventually say, "Mom and Dad were right." |

ReplyDeleteOh, well...Pooty Poot's Armata tank had to be towed off Red Square...

You are pulling our leg about the 95 thing, right? Anyway I wouldn't necessarily count that as a blessing, I think a 50 year old could live out a reasonably good life. Like the stock market major changes always take longer than you think and this country still has a lot of accumulated wealth to squander.

Fought with Pershing!
ReplyDeleteHmmm…we wonder how a platoon of Israeli Merkava Mk4 tanks might have fared…?

Fought with Pershing! ??
ReplyDeleteC'mon Rodge, you're like an old woman, hedging on your age. You told me you were with Teddy Roosevelt at San Juan Hill.
I rode with Pershing on the Mexican Punitive Expedition, and I'm much younger than you.

Its a test against European pacifists, it was probably judged on most artistic decorations.
