Elizabeth "Beth" Cleaver
The early 2000s were the heyday years of conservative bloggers, and if you followed along, you visited "My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" and Beth, the Bamapacyderm.
Beth was an outspoken, principled conservative. Believing that "everyone is entitled to her opinion," Beth freely shared her ideas, thoughts, hopes, dreams and her angst with us all, never failing to amuse and provoke, and she challenged others to do the same.
Beth gathered many female conservative bloggers together, creating "The Cotillion," encouraging the exchange of thoughts, ideas, and conservative values. Being a Cotillion Blogger was a highlight of my time as a blogger. As one of the many Tiara-wearing members, I spent many. many hours, chatting, brainstorming and laughing with the other Tiara-wearing Cotillion members. We were a force to be reckoned with.
Beth was fierce in her determination to make a difference in this world, and in that, she succeeded like no other.
Beth was an Air Force Vet, and she was passionate about all things military, and especially supportive of our Troops during the early days of the Middle East Conflicts.
Near or around the early Obama days, Beth closed her blog, and moved to Facebook, playing games and enjoying life, but still giving her opinions. Thousands of people flocked to her "wall" and the discussions there were heated, varied and always interesting.
Beth battled cancer for a large part of her adult life and, beating cancer once, she remained cancer-free for many years. Sadly, in January of this year, cancer once again reared up and Beth underwent surgery for a brain tumor, but this new cancer was especially aggressive and spread quickly.
Throughout treatment, Beth remained cheerful and positive, every time we spoke, her outlook was sunny, and determined.
At 9:18 am on Saturday, April 22, 2017, after a brave and valiant fight, surrounded by loved ones and at peace, Beth succumbed to the disease.
It is impossible to number the people whose lives were touched by Beth. It seems impossible to imagine life going on without da Beth. There is a hole in the world that can never be filled.
Beth was my hero, my mentor, and my friend. I will miss her, through all of the days of my life.

Charitable donations in memory of Beth can be made to The Cancer Research Institute (www.cancerresearch.org) or St. John's Episcopal Church of Laurel, MS, where Beth will be interred in the columbarium.

I found so many of my favorite bloggers through Beth. She was an amazing soul and I will always cherish having her in my life.
ReplyDeleteNicely written.
ReplyDeleteBrings back memories of days past and realizing how long I have been in this mix at various depths. Names and occasionally faces remembered and no longer found in the usual places.
And if I may add, Linda SOG, it is nice to be reading you after an extended time where I couldn't find you.

Love you, Linda, and will always miss Beth.
ReplyDeleteI consider myself fortunate to have known her, although I never met her in person. She is one of those who will live forever in the memories of those she touched... Godspeed Beth.
ReplyDeleteLove me some you Linder....Thanks for this.
Chance
I suppose it was fitting that she left on Earth Day. You did a very nice eulogy, Linda.
ReplyDeleteThe best we can hope to take from her life is that those who knew her will never forget her, and that the God of All Men will allow a new, young voice to rise up and assume her place. We miss all who pass; the really good ones we will remember forever.
ReplyDeleteBOHICA!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen you in a bunch of years.
Look me up sometime and we can catch a beverage.
