scream-of-consciousness;
"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."
In 1974 I arrived at McGuire AFB to be a C-141 navigator. I hadn't reported to my squadron yet, and in the evening looked for something to do. I figured maybe I'd go to the base theater, and found someone who wanted to go too. He was a fellow officer, and an African American. Neither of us knew what was playing, and it turned out to be Blazing Saddles.
We'd gotten split up and sat out of sight of each other. Then I found out the name of the film, and actually saw it. OMFG that was the funniest film I'd ever seen. But what would my friend and fellow lieutenant think? When it was over, I found my friend, and asked him how he liked it. He said he had been rolling in the aisle, laughing.
I have to say, he was right about reaction to the film. I needn't have worried about any PC reaction, it was just that funny.
He also opined that today it wouldn't be possible to make a film like "Blazing Saddles".
ReplyDeleteAt the speed we have been rushing towards socialism, the thought of laughing while in a bread line escapes me...........
ReplyDeleteHoward Johnson, I mean Mel Brooks, is RIGHT!
ReplyDeleteSir H the Comet
We've been a de facto socialist government since 1965 IMO
