Pan Roasted Brussels Sprouts

                                                           FOOD

MoSup  came upon this recipe some years ago, and  ... well,  I am posting it for a reason.  It is an acclaimed winner that I now take full credit for.  What's that?  You don't like Brussels Sprouts?  You will now.

  2. Brussel Sprouts are an abomination, created by Satan himself.

  4. I'll give it a whirl. I like sprouts anyway, but the girls claim they're too bitter. Whatever, more for me.

  6. I was no fan of Brussel Sprouts till my wife found a similar recipe some years back. We're just dumb Red-neck Hicks, so we don't use them shallot things or brown sugar, but this old man's eating sprouts and liking it whenever she puts them on the table.

  7. Bacon and onions - or shallots - could make fried cardboard taste good. Add some sugar and it just gets better.

Look at collard greens, which are field weeds for the donkeys to eat. Boil 'em up good with a big chunk of smoked fat back, plenty of salt, and some onions, and they become tasty. Eat them plain, either boiled or in salad, and they suck beyond imagination.

I was always grossed out by Brussel sprouts until I had some last year made up in a similar way. They were great. It's the bacon, salt, sugar, and onions that does the trick. I think that dish also had some roasted apples in it.
