That’s what happened when CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer interviewed Sen. Richard Blumenthal on Sunday after he attempted to blame the GOP for the shutdown of the government over the weekend, while portraying Democrats as victims. Blumenthal, a Connecticut Democrat, stated that Republicans are in “control” of the Senate, implying that made the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. Blumenthal was probably counting on the normal liberal bias of a CNN interviewer to get away with the implication, but Blitzer quickly corrected him. In the United States Senate, a simple numerical majority doesn’t give a party complete control over a determined minority, and Blumenthal knows it. “Well, let me interrupt politely,” Blitzer said.
