'THE DEPARTED'
A+…that's correct,
A+!
Starring: Leonardo DiCaprio, matt Damon, Jack Nicholson,
Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin and Mark Wahlberg
Directed by: Martin Scorsese
Story: Billy Costigan (DiCaprio) is an undercover cop
in South Boston assigned to infiltrate a mob syndicate run by a boss named
Costello (Nicholson). Meanwhile, a young criminal, Colin Sullivan (Damon), has
embedded himself in the police department's Special Investigation Unit. Both
their lives become endangered when the two organizations realize they have moles
within their ranks.
Rated:
R
My
thoughts: Look at
the 'Starring' section above. Look at the 'Directed by' section below it. Now,
look at the title of the movie again - GO SEE IT! Bloody, intricate, completely
un-PC and tons of fun! Best movie of the year so far - and one of the best in
the last 2-3 years.
'EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH' C+
Starring: Jessica Simpson, Dane
Cook and Dax Shepard
Story: A
couple of employees at a Costco-like super-store (Shepard and Cook) compete for
the affections of a new co-worker (Simpson) by trying to win the Employee of the
Month award.
Rated:
PG-13
My
thoughts: You may
be compelled to write me hate mail at this point but, believe it or not, this
new Jessica Simpson movie ain't THAT bad. There is, however, one thing you
might expect - Jessica Simpson still couldn't act her way out of a wet paper
bag.
'TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE-THE
BEGINNING' did not see
Starring: Who cares...
Story: Not interested...
Rated: Hmmm, let me guess...
My thoughts: Did not see, because even a FREE
screening is too high a price to pay for horror movie, retread, schlock like
this...
Martin Sheen AND Alec Baldwin? YgbSM!
ReplyDeleteyou said it Mr. S...
ReplyDeleteAlec Baldwin ?
DiCaprio and Scorsese have teamed up before, with a nice concept about the gangs in NYC, and with some okay moments, it turned into a 'way too long' piece of bore...
i cannot remember a good Scorsese film since Good Fellas, but my memory stinks in recent film.
but it is not my brain, it is mostly because the films remain weak.
It is disconcerting when you make a list of hollywood elites who infuriate you and compare it with a list of people you recognise as beeing able to 'act', 'play', 'paint', whatever, their asses off. For most people, I'll wager, will find most names on both lists.
ReplyDeleteSee, I've never had the problem of separating actors in their role, and publicly shooting their mouths off.
ReplyDeleteI like Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now, West Wing, among others). Sean Penn and Johnny Depp are very good. Alec Baldwin at the beginning of Glengarry Glen Ross was amazing.
Anyway, I put "Departed" in my queue at Netflix, and while there, was recommended "Mean Streets", which I've never seen. It's coming next.
