I guess because the 20mm only has an effective range of less than a mile, and the 14.5mm (.57 cal) about a mile and a half. Our .50 sniper rifle beats them both (has).
But it does make a bigger hole. It's likely intended for non-human targets such as missle launchers and vehicles. One 20mm in the right spot will make most such machines inoperable.
If memory serves (questionable statement) the longest sniper shot to date was 2246 yards. I think it was done by one of our Canadian friends in Afganistan.
