GOP Considering Throwing
in Towel in Health Fight

December 21, 2009, 1:07 P.M.
Senate Republicans are huddling over whether to throw in the towel in their efforts to stall Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) health care reform bill, a move that could mean the Senate completes work on the bill before Christmas Eve.   Full Story

Kill John Wayne

Curmudgeonly & Skeptical Завершить Джон Уэйн

I stumbled upon one of my own 2003 blog pages, and found several things that still amuse me.  One especially, "Stalin's Plot to Kill John Wayne," and it triggers a question.

Pretend you have in your possession proof-positive documentation that Obama is not a natural born citizen.  Not even a naturalized citizen, for that matter.  Not only that, you possess a surreptitiously taped video of a March, 2008, high level conference attended by DNC brass,  congressional leaders, and certain media executives.  They  discuss whether this revelation about Obama's disqualifying birth status will scuttle his presidential run, or can they develop a strategy to keep it concealed?

You just discovered that your spouse revealed your secret to some friends, and now the Obama White House knows you have it!

The question is what is your level of certainty that they will have you killed before letting this information leak?  Mine would be 9 on a scale of 10.  Because there is very little, if any, difference between Stalin's dedication to his ideology, and this government's for their own, very similar, plan to make the United States a better place.

Obversely, suppose it was damaging information about George Bush.  Would you fear for your life?

I think I've made my point, admitted or not.

Repealing Obamacare
C.K. MacLeod writes at Hot Air: ...

(Another way to put it: Passing a multi-trillion dollar government takeover of health care supported by only 35 percent of the public takes 60 Democratic senators; repealing such a monstrosity does not. Though it will take many many more Republicans in the House and Senate than there are now.)

On the One-Yard Line?
Senior White House Advisor David Axelrod said today that supporters of Obamacare are "right on the one-yard line."

It would be more accurate to say that the Democrats are on the 1-yard line -- with the clock running down -- but they trail by 8 points and it's 4th down. They have almost no margin for error. They need to sneak the ball across the goal line for a touchdown (at 1:00 AM, in the Senate), followed by a 2-point conversion (in the House). Then they need yet another score in overtime (back in the Senate) to win. All the while, they'll have to overcome the roar of the crowd, which is audibly and increasingly against them.

Roll Call: Nelson Blames Republican Governor for Health Care Compromise
"Nebraska voters are dumb farmers; they'll buy right into this"
The Democratic linchpin in a delicate Senate health care compromise said Sunday that special goodies for his constituents came at the behest of the state’s Republican governor.

A telling omission by Real Climate
It should be foremost on the minds of many that the RealClimate.org webserver domain is funded by Fenton Communications, an eco media group. Further, our tax dollars pay the salaries of people like Dr. Gavin Schmidt of NASA GISS who has been (according to several post and comment times noted) using his taxpayer paid time at work to participate in that blog.

“Tort reform” section of Reid health bill
The “tort reform” section of Senator Reid's substitute amendment is not merely meaningless, but is actually a significant giveaway to the trial lawyers.

Cash for Cloture: Demcare bribe list, Pt. II

Mark Steyn
You can't even dignify this squalid racket as bribery: If I try to buy a cop, I have to use my own money. But, when Harry Reid buys a senator, he uses my money, too. It doesn't "border on immoral": it drives straight through the frontier post and heads for the dark heartland of immoral.

Well, if PolitiFact says so ...

A clear picture of the Obama national security doctrine is emerging

For the moment, this doctrine appears to have three components; denial, threat minimization, and guilt. We should first believe that Muslims and Islamists do not share what they so obviously have in common; we should also accept bin Laden and al Qaeda as the only “core” issues; and, adding insult to injury, we must recognize that we Americans (and Jews) are two of the sources of Islamic jihad, terrorism, and the quest for kalifa.
