In a nutshell,
Boise
orthopedists agreed that worker's comp reimbursement for their services
was insufficient. They voted to withhold service until,
the Idaho Industrial Commission set new fee schedules. The Attorney General of the United
States had other ideas, however. This was after-all an early affront to
ObamaKare. He flew in, and coerced them to think it over, or be
tried for felony price fixing.
The Idaho attorney general, then, had the effrontery to accuse the
doctors of disrupting the free market, by removing competition.

The free marketplace works best when there is fair competition.
Anticompetitive activity harms the marketplace, businesses and
consumers. Enforcement of the antitrust laws restores competition to
the marketplace to the benefit of businesses and consumers and the
marketplace as a whole.

"Restores competition?" With who, Midas Muffler? Krispy
Kreme? ObamaKare? I feel like I'm living
in a history book.

No socialism here, citizen. Move along....
ReplyDeleteMove along? I would if I could get a doctor to fix my foot first.

The biggest travesty is that our MFCS AG was a party to the litigation. I'm not sure how he reconciles challenging Fuhrercare while, at the same time, accusing docs of price-fixing for refusing to bow to price controls.
ReplyDeleteOf course, one has to question the docs' choice of counsel: http://www.underpenaltyofcatapult.com/?p=150

ReplyDelete"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master - - that's all."
(Through the Looking Glass, Chapter 6)
Sounds like the Idaho AG has bought into Obama/Holder Socialist Ebonics.
Couldn't every one of those arguments be used on the unions? Anticompetitive activity and price fixing?

Looks like you need to learn to not oppose the socialists publicly, even in Idaho.
ReplyDeleteThe doctors should have just quietly dropped services, and then refuse to talk to the screws when they start asking questions.
