Virginia Beats the Crap out of Maryland ...

  Tale of Two States
One run by Democrats

A river that's a gulf

Maryland Recommendations

  • Pass a constitutional amendment to prevent raiding of Transportation Trust Fund.
  • Implement 15 cents per gallon tax, phased in over three years.
  • Increase vehicle registration fees by 50 percent.
  • Increase title taxes from 6 percent to 6.5 percent.
  • Increase mass transit fares.
  • Double vehicle emissions fees, to $28 every two years.
  • Increase miscellaneous MVA fees.
[Evening Capital]

Self inflicted pain
Marylanders woke to that news.   Just a few months ago Governor Martin O'Malley raised the state's sales tax, promising it would take care of all those new increases.  He is of course a democrat, so I knew he was lying.  Not so most of my fellow Marylanders.

Maryland and Virginia are separated by the Potomac River, but it may as well be the Gulf of Mexico.   The only state newspaper, The Baltimore Sun, once— (proudly) proclaimed "Maryland Overtaking Massachusetts as Most Liberal State!"  Since there is virtually no manufacturing left, and way more than 50%  are employed by misgovernment at some level, there is little hope things will change.  At the ballot box, anyway.

Virginia has what I consider to be the best government in the United States.  And it shows.  Republicans.  Conservative Republicans. That's the difference.

Jerry Springer uses his adultery ....

ASSHATS in History
"Shoulda paid the bitch in cash"

In 1980 Jerry Springer used the Jimmy Carter "Lust in my heart" template in his Ohio Gubernatorial (why isn't it "Governatorial?" - except goober sort of fits here). race.  Unfortunately he lost, and went on to annoy the crap out of an entire nation for the next 30+ years.

Netfinger

George Soros, Netfinger
UN Internet agenda tied to George Soros

Soros is NETFINGER

"Frank La Rue, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on freedom of expression who made summer headlines when he proclaimed Internet access as a basic human right[...]

Advocates of net neutrality, a position championed by the billionaire Soros and by the U.N., argue governments must regulate private censorship and bandwidth online to ensure it remains open and free. Soros, a philanthropist known for supporting [very] liberal causes, has articulated his belief in the need for greater U.S. government regulation of the Internet." The Internet is good, therefore it's a "basic human right." Therefore, all the people around the world who work every second of every day to keep the Internet running must continue to do so, or else they're violating our human rights. That doesn't really sound enforcable. [In America, no; in AmeriKa, "enforcement" is a piece of cake] Hey, maybe Soros is just meddling in the Internet to shut up people who criticize him and the ideas he's promoting? [

* " NETFINGER" coined by Jim Treacher

I snipped this comment at the time La Rue released his "report," wherein he claimed the internet was a human right.

David Collier-Brown says:

I wonder if this is something of a “category error”?

As a matter of policy, both the Canadian and U.S. governments contributed money and effort to rural electrification, to near-universal availability of telephones, and now to rural high-speed internet.

At the same time, none of the existing human rights legislation that I know of considers access to any of these a right.

Methinks we need a phrase, like the U.S. “pursuit of happiness”, which sums up things which one may or may not chose to have, but which cannot be frivolously denied to us…

Of course in its simplest form, we know net neutrality is evil because George Soros is funding the effort to make it happen.

Cose Pink Celebrates .....

Res ipsa loquitur

October 23, 2011

Dear Friend,

Our movement for change is growing roots. Last week, LA became the first city in the world to pass a resolution in solidarity with the Occupy Together movement and we celebrated the one-month anniversary of Occupy Wall St. And CODEPINKers have lent their bodies and their voices to this grassroots movement for change.

We’ve been wary of the “occupy” frame since it was first suggested. We take words seriously and since our primary focus is ending occupations and reinvesting in life-affirming activities, we will continue critiquing the movement as we help build it.

We know that rape is an occupation of our bodies. We know that rape is used as a weapon of war. And we know that women's participation in decision-making is as imperative in resolving economic injustice as it is in resolving armed conflict. Together, we can ensure that ½ of the 99% are equal participants in the creation of a better world.
