Gun Advisory

A Highly Detailed Private National Firearm Owner Registry Exists
An advisory for you to consider

 [...]
Basic Background--details to follow shortly: Recently one of our staffers decided to join Gun Broker to observe secondary market sale closing prices, he did not want to sell anything just be a "buyer." To do this one must register with Gun Broker- fair enough. And buyers need not collect money, etc. as that is the seller's job as is paying Gun Broker its commission and charges. This may sound like sour grapes--it isn't, we are very concerned about the personal information Gun Broker requires and has in their data banks--especially when coupled with firearm ownership in today's hostile Second amendment anti-gun environment.

While gun owners may not tell a neighbor they own guns they apparently will tell an anonymous data base business that and much much MORE. The NRA and other firearm organizations do NOT ask for personal information like Gun Broker.

Our staffer submitted his info. (now in their system forever) but did not see a warning about no P.O. Boxes (if it was near the line where one enters the address). Gun Broker responded saying he was "suspicious" and demanded a FAX of his driver's license. A driver's license contains lots of information and some (not our staffer) even list their Social Security Number on their licenses. He refused.

Gun Broker countered--FAX a copy of a blacked out license and/or two copies of other documents that will prove his physical address (where the guns might be)--AND--even after getting that information they may need more.

Every time you pick up a well shuffled deck, you are almost certainly holding an arrangement of cards that have never before existed in all of history.

 There are 80,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,
000,000,000,000,000,000 (67 zeros) ways to arrange a deck of 52 cards

I bet that doesn't hold true if a computer does the shuffling, unless someone has come up with a reliable random number algorithm.  At any rate, that is a mind-blower.

Dan Snyder Lampooned

                      —   Dan Snyder, you berk

Colbert of course is another HCL (hard core leftist) whose shtick is to parade as a conservative.  At the 4:50 mark he does properly lampoon Redskins owner Dan Snyder (The NFL's  George Steinbrenner) for his stupid attempt to mollify Indians (the vast majority of whom support his decision to keep the REDSKIN name) with some bullshit fund.    [HERE]

Problem #3

You're a stickler for privacy while browsing the Internet.

Solution: Collusion, a Chrome extension that will simultaneously terrify and protect you.

Thousands of companies and websites are secretly colluding to collect your personal data as you browse the web, but this extension allows you to track the spread of their data across websites.

A toolbar icon will begin to animate if your "graph" (pictured above) changes. And if that data sharing makes you uncomfortable, Collusion lets you sever the hidden connections.

These are CHROME centered apps, but some (like Problem #11You have way too many passwords to remember) are intriguing.

Bishop Sheen Censored

EWTN
5817 Old Leeds Rd.
Irondale, AL 35210

Last week, having fallen asleep watching EWTN,  I woke to the sound of Bishop Sheen's Life is Worth Living [Gloom, Laughter,Humor].  It began with B.Sheen cocking his yarmulke off to the side to get a laugh, and saying he once knew a Bishop who wore his cocked forward to hide the fact he's lost his hair.  Anon, he rued that today we can no longer tell jokes about Jews, Italians, etc.; and what a shame we had lost capacity to make fun of ourselves.

This resonated.  As a kid in Chicago, attending St. Francis Borgia, our homework assignment every Monday was to watch Life is Worth Living. We were grilled the next day by Father Theissen,  lest we had instead played hooky and watched Sid Caesar—like our public school brethren did.

Our parish was a melting pot of Italian, Polish and Irish.  Ethnic humor was a staple; nobody took offense at being lampooned by "Dago" or "Polack" jokes.  Of course, being called a stupid 'Mick" by someone you didn't know was a fighting offense; it was all in the intent. Then came Political Correctness, the movement pushed by educators like Donna Shalala to control speech; but I digress.

I tried to record the audio from the beginning, but was watching (Live Broadcast) on my iPad (using the EWTN app), and couldn't go back.  I checked to see if it was scheduled for repeat, and yes!  Saturday, March 29 at 6PM!  Click-click I scheduled it, and was on hand to watch it live.  Guess what?

In an act of bodacious irony, it seems that somebody at EWTN deemed the "
cannot tell jokes about Jews, Italians, etc" segment inflammatory, and cut it.  You can tell where it was cut because the empty space is filled by replaying the opening "tilting yarmulke" segment.  Not only is it confusing, it's—well, it's cowardly to censor the words of someone as celebrated as Bishop Fulton Sheen in order not to offend the professional offended classes.

Have I missed something?  I'm hoping this was an unintentional glitch, and the original unedited video will be rescheduled, or at least offered for sale.  I'm blogging this, so I hope to hear a "live" explanation response.

Sincerely .... The Real King of France
