Nearly 20 percent of new Obamacare waivers are gourmet restaurants, nightclubs, fancy hotels in Nancy Pelosi’s district

Democrat Farm Team
Of the 204 new Obamacare waivers President Barack Obama’s administration approved in April, 38 are for fancy eateries, hip nightclubs and decadent hotels in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s Northern California district.

That’s in addition to the 27 new waivers for health care or drug companies and the 31 new union waivers Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services approved.

What can I say?  Kennedy's perceived weakness led to the Cuban Missile Crisis.  Obama's incompetence , this.     Hugo Chavez is a megalomaniac. Ahmadinejad  openly believes a world conflagration will signal the return of "Mahdi."  Has anyone seen Obama and Mahdi in the same room together?  I'm just saying.

What are they thinking?

Like we really care about Carlos Santana's perspective.

Carlos has a restaurant in Walnut Creek, CA (Maria Maria) that I have visited a couple of times.... even though I had to struggle past my mental image of him sporting a Che tee shirt.

This, of course, brings an end to even a brief consideration of me ever going there again.

Renowned rock star Carlos Santana blasted Georgia and Arizona after being honored at baseball's annual Civil Rights Game between the Phillies and Braves.

Newt And Nancy need a clever campaign slogan

Alas, the supposedly “brilliant”, Newt “Our country must take action to address climate change” Gingrich, ever in search of more attention, has thrown his overly-large hat into the Republican primary ring.

I want him out. ASAP.

To that end, I want to remind everyone (and their mother) how willingly this tool cooperated with Satan’s concubine herself to push the falsehood that is man-made global warming; and worse, that we need to DO something about it. (Can you tell I’m still hacked-off about it?) American Elephants
Newt-Nancy 2012

I've seen several "GOP candidates create big yawn" stories recently. Here's what I don't get.  Not since 1980 was I so fired up over a candidate than I was with Sarah Palin.  Which is why both the DNC and the GOP went out of their way to tar her.  What more can one ask of a candidate?  She took on the GOP in 2010 and her candidates won.  So there's that.  She's not a mealy mouth; she walks the conservative walk, and will not let Obama get away with the lies he must tell if he wants to be elected.  JFC.

Court: No right to resist illegal cop entry into home
WHAT THE FF?

INDIANAPOLIS | Overturning a common law dating back to the English Magna Carta of 1215, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Hoosiers have no right to resist unlawful police entry into their homes.

In a 3-2 decision, Justice Steven David writing for the court said if a police officer wants to enter a home for any reason or no reason at all, a homeowner cannot do anything to block the officer's entry.

Barry Meets the Founders

Thursday, Rush had an extended conversation with an ardent Mitch Daniels supporter.  Rush asked, why, if he's so durned conservative, doesn't he talk like it?  Caller explained that Daniels must be judged, not on what he says, but on what he does.

Justice Steven David was appointed to the Indiana Supreme Court by guess who?

And screw "Overturning a common law dating back to the English Magna Carta of 1215.

The Fourth Amendment (Amendment IV) to the United States Constitution is the part of the Bill of Rights which guards against unreasonable searches and seizures, along with requiring any warrant to be judicially sanctioned and supported by probable cause.

In Mapp v. Ohio, 367 U.S. 643 (1961), the Supreme Court ruled that the Fourth Amendment applies to the states by way of the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.

WTFF?

"This is the second major Indiana Supreme Court ruling this week, involving police entry into a home.

On Tuesday, the court said police serving a warrant may enter a home without knocking if officers decide circumstances justify it. Prior to that ruling, police serving a warrant would have to obtain a judge's permission to enter without knocking."

Taken in the sum and context of what's been happening to us under Obamunism, it ought be manifestly clear that, before long, lots of people will feel damned sorry (but won't dare express it) that they didn't take to the hills, in guerrilla fashion (in the good way, and as a manner of speaking.  Ahem).

Best Tea-Party Poster Evah!

Tom Mann sent this, titled "The Best Tea Party Ever!"  It is pretty good, but outdated.  Two of the Seven Dorks were no longer in the administration, so I replaced 'em.

Tom takes a daily bike-ride, rain or shine, around DC & environs.  If there's a demonstration, or a DO,  Tom's there.  For  several years now he 's sent me his daily output, until I no longer know what to do with them.   Which brings up a suggestion.  If you're a big time blogger connected with one of them fancy blog syndicates, and would like your own exclusive news photos of the nation's capitol, Tom is your man.  (answer in comments, and I'll forward.)

Our six-year-old daughter, Terra, has a need to ask questions … lots of questions. Finally, one day, my wife had had it.

"Have you ever heard that curiosity killed the cat?" my wife asked.

"No," replied Terra.

"Well, there was a cat, and he was very inquisitive. And one day, he looked into a big hole, fell in, and died!"

Terra was intrigued: "What was in the hole?"

Geezer Grope

Pete and Sidney, retired friends, met in the park every day to feed the pigeons, torment the squirrels, and solve the world’s problems.

One day Pete didn't show up.

A month had passed, and Sidney figured he had seen the last of Pete, but one day, Sidney approached the park and, lo and behold, there sat Pete!

Sidney was very excited and happy to see him and told him so. Then he said, 'For crying out loud Pete, what in the world happened to you?'

Pete replied, 'I have been in jail.'

'Jail!' cried Sidney. What in the world for?'

'Well,' Pete said, 'you know Lily, that cute little blonde waitress at the coffee shop where I sometimes go?'

'Yeah,' said Sidney, 'I remember her. What about her?'

'Well, one day she filed rape charges against me; and, at 89 years old, I was so proud that when I got into court, I pled 'guilty;
the gol-dang judge gave me 30 days for perjury!'

Die as cheaply as possible

13 Things the Funeral Director Won’t Tell You
1. Go ahead and plan your funeral, but think twice before paying in advance. You risk losing everything if the funeral home goes out of business. Instead, keep your money in a pay-on-death account at your bank.
[...]

This might be number 14 — Ahem

3. You can buy caskets that are just as nice as the ones in my showroom for thousands of dollars less online from Walmart, Costco, or straight from a manufacturer.

4. On a budget or concerned about the environment? Consider a rental casket. The body stays inside the casket in a thick cardboard container, which is then removed for burial or cremation.

5. Running a funeral home without a refrigerated holding room is like running a restaurant without a walk-in cooler. But many funeral homes don’t offer one because they want you to pay for the more costly option: embalming. Most bodies can be presented very nicely without it if you have the viewing within a few days of death.

Get Couth Young Man

Get Couth Young Man —   and Meet Chicks
Today I am going to introduce you to another form of art known as
the modern moral subject
So now let me introduce you to the characters that are all assembled in this, the first painting of the series.  Seated at the far right of the foreground we have the Earl of Squander.  The index finger of his left hand points to an unfurled parchment depicting his family tree, which shows his family being direct descendants of William, Duke of Normandy (William the Conqueror).
The Marriage Settlement by William Hogarth
Hogarth has cynically incorporated a broken branch in to the family tree, which was indicative of  a prior marriage, but one outside the nobility and was thus disowned, hence the break from the main tree.  Obviously one would not have shown such a thing on a real family tree but it is reminding the viewers that this great noble’s set of descendants were not quite as noble as the earl would have us believe!

Although titled, the man is almost penniless and heavily in debt due to his foolish ways and needs urgently to replenish his wealth.  Despite his poverty look at the luxurious and costly clothes he is wearing.  There is an arrogance about the man.  He has surrounded himself with symbols of his nobility.  There are coronets everywhere.  If you look carefully you can see how Hogarth has painted them on his foot stool, on the canopy above his head, and even on the head of his crutches.     Observe how Hogarth has painted him with his right foot resting on a stool which is a tell-tale symptom of gout, and which is often associated with overindulgence in alcohol and rich foods. [full]

This is great fun — like walking about the art museum with those wireless headphones that convey the history of whatever art you're standing before. The six paintings and their descriptions in the Marriage à la Mode series are, each one, delicious and saucy.  Matter-of-fact, my daily art display (A daily dip into the world of art) is worth perusing.  Here are the links to the remaining segments:  You're welcome.
