"If you're trying to change minds and influence people it's probably not a good idea to say that virtually all elected Democrats are liars, but what the hell."
About 13 years ago, I was traveling through the Dakotas on business. The gas stations tended to be a combination of gas pumps, convenience store, and slot machines.
On more than several occasions, I saw moms holding their toddler with one hand while working the slots with another. All I could think of how nice it was outside and how the kid would be better playing in a park with other kids.
I am fairly libertarian, but seeing that made me prefer to keep legalized gambling at a minimum. It appeals far too easily to the darker angels of human nature.
Stick with the libertarian thing. When we made it so that people are dependant on the government and not their adult children to keep them from starving in their old age, we removed all incentive for them to invest in healthy, smart, ambitious children. You can't have partial libertarianism. Steve

Looks to me like mom is working on the college fund for that lucky kid.

You are on the right path, Libertarian friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat Libertarians tend to forget or ignore is that legalizing social sins like gambling, drug use, porn, prostitution - absolutely destroys kids.
People joke about it being "for the children," but really, sometimes it is for the children.
Stick with the libertarian thing.
