Duranty-Sulzberger - the tradition

"Good night, Mrs. Kalabashky, wherever you are,
now that Uncle Joe had you executed." -Walter Duranty
(with apologies to Jimmy Durante)

A group of incensed Ukrainian protestors gathered outside the New York Times headquarters in Midtown Manhattan on Friday, November 18, to demand the newspaper return the Pulitzer Prize won by former New York Times reporter Walter Duranty.

Duranty is infamous for his role in helping to cover-up the 1932-33 Ukrainian genocide, in which Soviet despot Joseph Stalin intentionally starved close to 10 million Ukrainians to death. Now, post "Orange Revolution" president Viktor Yushenko's government is building a center to commemorate the genocide, and the people of the Ukraine have requested that the Pulitzer medal be on display there as a symbol of the lies that helped to perpetuate it. - Newsbusters

Duranty was not the Lone Ranger when it came to using the New York Times to pimp leftist murderers, and what has changed?  The NB post is part of their Weekend Captionfest.  With that in mind, I'll take some liberties with my entry.

Sometime in the near future

But, oh, we're going to seek the death penalty for GI's who may, or may not have ''murdered'' Iraqis with guns. How many captured terrorists have been executed? ZE-FK'N-RO

We need a leader that would have the courage to prosecute those at the times that violated the law and exposed secret operations by the NSA and CIA that were trying to win the war on terror and prevent another 9/11.
