Windows copyright schemes

Eat Me
I have several ways to record television programs on my computer, but the only one that functions like TIVO - can auto-record series, titles, etc., is Microsoft Media Center.  The others have to be started manually.  I routinely record Fox and Friends using Media Center, and this morning I wanted the clip of Steve Irwin's hilarious 2003 appearance, where he wrestled stuffed animals, Brien Kilmeade, and everything else on the set.  When I went to edit it (using ShowBiz2) I got a 'copyright' message.

First off, FNC had to initiate this, for reasons that escape me (word of mouth stuff is just so detrimental to one's ratings).  And Microsoft can always be counted on to roll over to RIAA, Hollywood, and anyone else with a demand - except their customers, right? Okay, I just won't use it anymore. I have other options, and so does everyone else.  No Irwin clips though, it's not worth all the gyrations I'd have to go through.

Try using this freeware package: http://www.gbpvr.com/.

I use every day, and it is reliable. Make a few adjustments and it deletes commercials for you.

Do you by any chance have a Media center PC? I'm wondering what problems this may cause since most all of these programs use Microsoft's open source Media center engine.

Nope. I use Windows 2000 server. That way I can stream video to my laptop.

I spent about an hour last night on YouTube pulling up Irwin tributes. I didn't realize how much I liked the guy. Man, he sure lived his life fully, makes me feel like a slug.
