The Thugocracy

 "Employee Free Choice Or
We Break Your Legs
Act"
Death of the Secret Ballot

This is no exaggeration

President Barack Obama told AFL-CIO union leaders Tuesday in a videotaped address that the controversial Employee Free Choice Act will pass, signaling his full backing for legislation that makes union organizing easier.

"We will pass the Employee Free Choice Act," President Obama told more than 100 top labor officials in a closed-door meeting at the labor federation's winter gathering in Miami, according to people at the meeting.

The bill would make it easier for unions to recruit workers because it would let them join unions simply by signing cards rather than through secret-ballot elections in which companies can campaign against the union.

...until Wal-Mart starts closing stores, and thousands of the newly-unionized workers discover that a union card without a job is meaningless.

Hasten the day...

Went through that back in the '80s when the Seafarer's union tried to come into the Sears warehouses.

Lots of greasy square-built guys in $800 suits with very obvious bulges under their arms.

I continue to be amazed by the lack of a learning curve. The 'progressives' (and unions) gave us the Detroit we have today. Hell, most of the rust belt shines with their glory. And the people say 'thank your sir, my I have another'.

As I understand it the stimulus bill jobs can only go to unionized companies.

hmmm, I mis-spelled stimulus above and the suggestion was shambles.

I have no problem with it ... provided the company can also have free choice, and fire anyone who signs that card.
