NEA Scandal

All Your Art Are Belong To Us
What's worse: a White House telling artists to push a political agenda or the artists being so eager to take Big Brother’s call?

I thought the NEA's job was to promote community theatre productions of "Our Town" and exhibitions of Andrew Wyeth's paintings and such. When did they get into the health care business?

After the October Revolution, the Bolsheviks did the same thing. They called it Socialist Realism, and all art that didn't conform was considered "counter-revolutionary", and counter-revolutionaries were shot in the back of the head with a small pistol. Unless of course you were like Mayakovsky. He beat them to the punch, and shot himself.

All the artists that refuse The One's request are racists! ;-)

This was an unforced error. They already had everyone that was sucking the NEA tit. It's the science community that's still more worrisome (see Global warming grants).

As Heinlein said, "A government-supported artist is nothing but an incompetent whore."

Real answer is NEA should not exist at all. Government has no business confiscating money from taxpayers (or subjects) for this purpose.

Our national deficit would be eliminated in a short time if the federal government only spent money on actual federal responsibilities.
