Better Dead than Ted?

Patrick Kennedy vs. the church
Crap the Catholic Church foolishly put up with Ted, is
nuh-uh with Patrick.  Everything else is the same.

If it's true that each iteration of Joseph P.Kennedy DNA is significantly watered down, and it is, then small wonder that Patrick is dad Teddy's clone, only dumber. The inverse ratio of intellect to arrogant sense of entitlement, however, is enhanced, alas.

At a graveside ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, Cardinal Theodore A. McCarrick read aloud the letters exchanged between the dying senator and Pope Benedict XVI. In his letter, Kennedy listed the ways in which his public policy views mirrored the social teachings of the church. I have always tried to be a faithful Catholic,’’ he wrote.

The pope’s response was polite, if tepid. It reflected the ambivalence of a pontiff who knew the ways in which Kennedy’s views did not mirror church teachings, but did not want to point them out to a dying, yet still powerful, man. But now there’s no such reluctance when it comes to Kennedy’s son.

With Patrick Kennedy, the cassocks are off.

After Representative Kennedy of Rhode Island questioned why the church is vowing to fight any health care bill that does not explicitly ban the use of public money for abortions, Bishop Thomas J. Tobin of Providence fired back. Tobin called Kennedy’s support of abortion rights “a deliberate and obstinate act of will’’ that was “unacceptable to the church and scandalous to many of our members.’’ [Patrick Kennedy vs. the church]
 Now, deal with Pelosi.

Remember the 1996 movie Multiplicity where each Michael Keaton clone was dumber than the previous one. Just like that.

In the good old days, the Pope (and several cardinals) had their own armies. Now, all they are left with is the Swiss Guards (who are actually much tougher than their show uniforms would suggest.)
It would be nice if Bishop Tobin would just up and excommunicate Patches. And Biden's bishop, Pelosi's Archbishop, and Kerry's Cardinal, and so on.

For that we would need Father Merrin.

Kudos to the Bishop for pimp-slapping Patrick Kennedy.

Even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then.

As a Catholic, I am very bothered by the Church's insertion of itself into the socialized medicine debate.

The Church (like all Christian churches) is part God and part man.

The God part is always good and right and the man part gets things wrong from time to time.

When has the Church EVER been correct when it takes a political position?

And spoiled brat Catholics in name only like the Kennedys give the faith almost as bad of a public image as Cardinal Law and his ilk.

Nominal Catholics (Like Kennedy and Pelosi) who support abortion and consider that okay are in serious violation of Church doctrine. The Church isn't inserting itself into the public debate; rather, it is chastising some of its errant children who damned well need it. Abortion is, was and always will be a mortal sin for Catholics and consequently, legislators like Kennedy, Pelosi and John Kerry who violate Church law and still try to call themselves Catholics need to be corrected by their Bishops. Period. Were the religion under discussion Islam, Patrick Kennedy's stupidity and lack of orthodoxy would cause riots in the streets!
