A Hostage Taking

No wonder their products
are cheaper than ours

THOR sent me this morality tale about a hostage taking in Red Commie MFCS China.  I like it.

They probably spent $0.35 cents (they will bill the perp's family for reimbursment).

    * In  America, we would shut the street down for 48 hours.

    * Take 12 hours to talk him out of it.

    * Spend $5 million giving him a fair trial.

    * And pay his food and lodging for life.

My favorite all-time negotiation was in the movie

The Fifth Element

"Anyone else want to negotiate?"

Of course, they also execute corrupt politicians and bureaucrats on a reasonably regular basis.

For all their faults, they do have their upsides on occasion.

What's that old adage? Even Obama will say something truthful from time to time.

I think his three demands were...Leg shaving equipment...A decent pair of panty hose....One million Yuan.

I watched a similar negotiation with a lone suicidal hanging from a window in downtown Vancouver BC.

Suicide is a right in Canada.

The Coroner's office folks shopwed up in a marked van, spread a drop cloth on the sidewalk under her, and asked her to hurry up ... it was getting close to 5:00 PM and shift change.

The crowd started laughing.

The wouldbe suicide got all butthurt at the reaction she was getting, climbed back inside, and was hauled off to the nearest mental ward.

This was in feb. of 2001, when I was getting my eyes lasered up there ( the surgery was still "experimental" in the US at the time.
