Who's running this ship?

"Insurance companies win.
Time to kill this monstrosity coming
out of the Senate."
- Markos Moulitsas yesterday

Any questions?

Obama lies over the ocean,
Obama lies over the sea.
Obama lies to the American people,
Oh bring back my country to me.

I've been hearing that in an ad on the Mark Levin show.

The elusive Zombietime has some thoughts that do mirror mine:

I’m perfectly willing to provide subsidized health care to people who are suffering due to no fault of their own. But in those cases — which, unfortunately, constitute perhaps a majority of all cases — where the unwellness is a consequence of the patient’s own misdeeds, bad habits, or stupid choices, I feel a deep-seated resentment that the rest of us should pick up the tab to fix medical problems that never should have happened in the first place.

I’m speaking specifically of medical problems caused by:

• Obesity
• Cigarette smoking
• Alcohol abuse
• Reckless behavior
• Criminal activity
• Unprotected promiscuous sex
• Use of illicit drugs
• Cultural traditions
• Bad diets

Now, I really don’t care if you overeat, smoke like a chimney, hump like a bunny or forget to lock the safety mechanism on your pistol as you jam it in your waistband. Fine by me. And as a laissez-faire social-libertarian live-and-let-live kind of person, I would never under normal circumstances condemn anyone for any of the behaviors listed above. That is: Until the bill for your stupidity shows up in my mailbox. Then suddenly, I’m forced to care about what you do, because I’m being forced to pay for the consequences.

There's much more there that makes sense. Some pictures that you'd rather not see tho.

Prollem is... Who decides who's "suffering through no fault of their own?" That is the beast that we should never give to the guberment. Private sector (you and me and moms and dads and brothers and sisters) are the BEST-AND-ONLY ones to decide. Even public sector insurance is a poor substitute for responsibility - and we've used it as an excuse to shirk our own responsibility to family and friends for far too long. Acceptance of insurance company rules is another form of government over our lives that we have voluntarily and foolishly accepted and it is the wedge in the doorway that the Federal Government is using to force the whole door wide open into your wallet and life.

Uhrrr... and I think that was exactly Zombietime's point.

Aha, so that's why you're always standing alone at the Barn Army Christmas party. Certainly you could make exceptions for overindulgence at the bung, or misjudgment where heated passions are concerned?

And by the time that libertarian bonehead finds that snapping pics of lefty protests has been declared risky behavior, it'll be too late, huh?

Did you have a point anon, or do libertarians just scare you?

Someone has to do it, and show the world just what kind of loons the far left are.

I made my point. Libertarians are all about someone elses ox being gored, never theirs. They're so smart, you see. Lightning will never strike them, they will always make the right choice, just like the smug little lefties that want to control every aspect of our lives.

Then they're not Libertaians
