John Hancock

 No photographing John Hancock

No more photographing the Declaration of Independence, or the US Constitution. So it's just your word against theirs.

It had to be done. Too many retards were ignoring the "No photography flash" sign, or were too fucking clueless to know how to turn it off on their cameras.

The documents were getting damaged by too much UV from the flashes.

You can try one of these.

Note: From Rodg's place, but not sure if he gets credit for an Amazon purchase from a comment link.

Just noticed, the above camera is being labeled "Duel Mode", which I believe means a hidden feature is the sliding sabre function.

What Kristopher said. These are the same idiots who ignore 'no flash' signs in museums and fire off a flash pic in a 70,000 seat stadium at night. Why do some people feel compelled to take a half-assed pic of something when a beautiful copy can be reasonably purchased or downloaded free from the internet?

They should just put a copy on display, and let people take all the pictures they want. Problem solved.

I don't need to see the originals of either, I have copies hanging in my home, like we all should.

Its been rumored for decades that the documents on public display ARE copies and the originals are safely in salt-mine storage somewhere just in case Washington ever gets hit....

(gotta admit when I was there several years ago I rolled my eyes at the dummies ignoring the signs then set my camera for 'no flash' and when I popped the button, yup it flashed on full)

This is bullshit. Put UV glass in the case and be done with it. To take the most precious document on earth out of public view is wrong and we all know it. This wouldn't be an attempt at getting rid of it now would it?????
