Pissed

Hey

Like you, I get scads of examples of what I view as a mirror on the body politic.  This from Rick B (I'm sorry Rick, yours is a handle I just cannot remember) is a good example.
Boned Jello
Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem) What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So, here is my Question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

I am not sure if it was a state or federal suggestion that welfare and food stampers must pass a drug test before collecting. It wasn't too long ago but it went nowhere. The pro-social services people made up the usual excuses. I was against it because it is just another layer of government bureaucracy, an expansion of government which would employ people who don't give a damn if Joe Welfare is stoned or not. While in theory it is a great idea, but it is just more government employees that do nothing. Think children and family services.

Adolph Hitler wrote that the lower classes should be allowed their vices. This made them easier to control. Those that sought to lead were to deny themselves these things so they would be morally superior and justified in their leadership. I knew a guy that was a pilot who got a job with Customs chasing druggies in Florida. I saw him several years later and found out he was flying for a private firm. He got digusted with Customs and quit. He told me the supply of drugs could be stopped completely but they had to let a certain amount through, to justify the gov't spending and keep some of the population pacified. Two of the local county jails allow drugs to be smuggled in to keep the prisoners docile. Billy Bureacrat wants Joe Welfare stoned so he stays in his place.
