America Lasters

Sarah Palin leads on domestic drilling
when it’s hard; and the rest of the GOP?

The Gulf of Mexico oil spill is a good test for the spines of today’s Republican Party. One Republican has already passed the test, and as usual, that’s Sarah Palin. The signs from the others are not encouraging.

A day after pundit Charles Krauthammer declared “drill, baby, drill” to be history in light of the spill, and two days after the Obama Administration halted all domestic drilling (gee, what a surprise), Palin came out and invoked her moral authority as an Alaskan who lived through the Exxon Valdez spill.

AMERICA LASTERS

Had the GOP been in any sort of habit of having principles, let along standing by them, we wouldn't be having this discussion [Call your office Mack, Rubio, and the rest of youse pandering pissants).  Moving on, Rush introduced this " I'm just noting the timing here"  deal into the equation last week.
I want to get back to the timing of the blowing up, the explosion out there in the Gulf of Mexico of this oil rig. Since they're sending SWAT teams down there now this changes the whole perspective of this. Now, lest we forget, ladies and gentlemen, the carbon tax bill, cap and trade that was scheduled to be announced on Earth Day. I remember that. And then it was postponed for a couple of days later after Earth Day, and then of course immigration has now moved in front of it.

But this bill, the cap-and-trade bill, was strongly criticized by hardcore environmentalist wackos because it supposedly allowed more offshore drilling and nuclear plants, nuclear plant investment. So, since they're sending SWAT teams down there, folks, since they're sending SWAT teams to inspect the other rigs, what better way to head off more oil drilling, nuclear plants, than by blowing up a rig? I'm just noting the timing here.
The left predictably responded with, "Can you believe this wacko? Suggesting that there are people (like ELF?) who would be so extreme?"  And this truth:
You do survive these things. I'm not advocating don't care about it hitting the shore or coast and whatever you can do to keep it out of there is fine and dandy, but the ocean will take care of this on its own if it was left alone and was left out there," Limbaugh said. "It's natural. It's as natural as the ocean water is.

I heard that the prince william sound was looked at and the areas that were untouched by the cleaning was robust and teaming with life, but that the areas that had been "cleaned" hadnt recovered, or the recovery was slow. This was due to the picking up of fauna and not leaving anything behind to grow.

Maybe read it here. On this very page I linked to a 2007 post on just that.

Krauthammer needs to shut up and go back to Canukland. I still think it's mighty conveniant that this happened right after Odumbo decided it might be alright to drill. Funny how these things happen.
