Damn ass ce - glass ceiling!

There, there ...
Boned Jello

Politics Daily: Iowa is one of four states that have never elected a woman to Congress (Mississippi, Delaware and Vermont are the others) and one of only two (along with Mississippi) that have never elected a congresswoman or woman governor. Why is that?

Conlin: "I don't know the answer to that. Certainly I have asked about it for decades and worried about it . . . We've had great candidates for Congress . . . We've had great candidates for governor [like me]. It just doesn't happen.

Just something trivial that caught my eye.  Isn't it possible that those womyn were not as qualified as the men they ran against Roxy?  Is that beyond the realm of all reason?  Sheesh.

"not as qualified as men …"

You crack me sideways, Rodge. Got your answer right here.

In Vermont, we only get one Representative. And that's a deal because we don't have the population to justify even one. But we still get 2 senators. This would be a great joke on the Constitution if California didn't rent them away from us. But I digress.

The problem is compounded by Vermonters' inability to memorize more than one name for each ballot choice. Thus the incumbent always wins. Even when they are so demented they can't find their way into the correct chamber.

All this makes it very difficult for candidates of traditionally disenfranchised demographics to get into the system. So you won't see Vermont sending Asians, Latinos, Blacks, or any smart people to Congress either.

You're welcome.

Helen, sounds like Vermont needs a man with a plan. ;)

Ignorant D, I had a part-time Vermonter force me to watch that waste of time movie which he thought was just hilarious. Maybe I don't "get" regional humor. ... no. It just kinda sucked.

If, for example, Neanderthal men had kept their women at their side, that tribe would still be here today....

Little known that the Neanderthals were actually the “Meanderthangs”

There was a mutation among the men of the tribe, a genetic propensity to do what’s called “the 50 mile mosey” and then the sufferer would get lost and be unable to find his way back to the home cave.
This, after a time, became more prevelant in the population, even with what little breeding that went on among them and ,as you can imagine, was very detrimental to their population maintenance possibilities.
When on these dazed and confused treks they would, of course proposition the Cro-Magnon girls whose general reply was “You gotta be shittin me!”...well, except of course, acceptance from the occassional skank from the tribe that had resettled in the area from someplace called Harrahbia.
Many years of this unfortunate situation caused the population numbers to drop severely and the desperate Meanderthang women were forced to invent the ‘dildong’ using a mammoth tusk.
Hindsight is 20/20....If only they'd have taken the gals along on those treks.
