So marvelous, Rodg, thank you. Brought to mind tea. No longer just for partiers, it's a drink to go with jam and bread.

Love it.
Trouble is,
without costumes, I wasn't sure which fat lady to applaud after.

OMG! All those innocent people wanted to do was get something to eat in the food court and all of a sudden... they get beat over the head with culture. That's not "Flash Brindisi," that's "Guerrilla Opera!"

But I am sure that it was inspired by these guys, if not, still worth a watch.

Fantastic find Roger! What a good thing for the festival crowd, and a good thing for the opera company.
Many people think opera is all screeching and screaming, and operas can be boring with all the recitative, yet those same people will watch a movie and leave exclaiming about the gorgeous music, not knowing it often comes from an opera. Hearing it live, realizing real people make that beautiful sound, is a good way to spead a little culture around.

In the late '90's, a chorus and the two leads from a Virginia Opera "Carmen" walked into our office lobby one day as I was passing by. Our lobby was about 60' high and maybe 50' x 50' with a 60' high x 40' wide atrium running off two sides of it for maybe 200'.
Baritone led off with "Toreador Song", with chorus, soprano followed with "Habanera" with full seductive strut around gawkers (me) in the lobby. This gorgeous little woman, all 5'5" ~120lbs of her, filled the space with her voice and seduced every man in the lobby. I fell in love and wanted to have her babies.
Afterward, I asked her how she did that without a warm up, and wasn't she concerned about the strain on her voice. She told me it was no problem, as she was only about half throttle.
Wow.
If I could be reincarnated, I'd like to come back as a world class tenor or baritone. What a gift to be able to sing like that and make people smile or cry, or jump to their feet and cheer.

Great how the people who are not part of the crew join in at 2:30 - the black man in the red shirt and the white guy in the light plaid lack the official round buttons that the rest wear (although they've put a mike on one of them).

Hate opera - liked this

Several years ago we wnet to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. When dinner time rolled around we parked in "Italy," where a mini opera was performed (I am not an aficionado). It was by far my favorite experience that day

Wonderful video! GREAT comments shared here. Must say a good opera voice generally bring tears by the beauty of it to my eyes, husband's too.
Thanks Tailgunner and Rick comments.

AWSOME!!!

Come on down and do this in PHOENIX!!! Sing in front of Diamondback Stadium... we're twenty-something games out without a prayer, people need SOMETHING to cheer about... come sing at a Light Rail Station... with no privys or even water fountains, people need something to distract them from the 110-plus heat while they wait for a train that never comes!

Come down to the Combat Zone and sing in front of the grocery where I work... if you survive the hail of lead, I'd be happy to ask all ya-all for your autographs.

Bringing Culture to the Common Man... WHAT A CONCEPT!!!

Here's my contribution to Operatic themes along the lines of what Lt. Col. Gen. Tailgunner dick pointed out.

In the movie "Hannibal", there was scene that at the opera where some absolutely divine music was playing.

This was the first opera music I could actually enjoy.
