Cheese eating surrender presidents

Dear Taliban

W e know the president was talking to several audiences at the same time when he made his comments on July 2011,” Gen. James Conway  told reporters on Tuesday. “In some ways, we think right now it’s probably giving our enemy sustenance….In fact, we’ve intercepted communications that say, ‘Hey, you know, we only have to hold out for so long.’ Gen. James Conway

Conway's  criticism  of Obama for announcing a date certain withdrawal of US forces  from Afghanistan is remarkable, almost MacArthur-esque. Imam Obama famously views any criticism as lèse majesté, and this was a (well deserved) public rebuke. Can you feel Obama's seethe?

The "debate" about pre-announcing the date you'll surrender has been going on since Vietnam.  How does one defend  this self defeating maneuver ?   The answer is, one cannot.  It's not that Democrats are unable to grasp the implications of the pre-surrender gambit. They may not care about American battlefield losses, but what if the concept was applied to  something they do stand up and salute - tax collection?

NOTICE:
Dear Person:

We are closing our file on you on September 11, 2010.  If you have not paid your delinquent taxes by that date, we're screwed.  Please hurry.

Regards,
IRS.

My case in a nutshell.  Whoever famously proposed  [ahem] that "The United States will never win another war as long as Democrats  hold office," was spot-on.
