Fingered

We've been fingered

The  Mission, KS city council legislated a driveway tax.  Every homeowner must pay  $72,  and small businesses $3,558 a year beginning in December.  Just because.

The city of Philadelphia sees Blogs (like this one) as a potential moneymaker, and are demanding $300, the price of a business privilege license.

Taxaholic states, like Democrat controlled Maryland, are feeding themselves via pernicious new taxes. Smokers currently have to pay $2 state tax  for each pack of cigarettes  ( tobacco products sales across Maryland have fallen by 25% as smokers turn to the black markets).

Obamacare contains provisions to hire from between 11,800 and 16,500 new IRS agents to enforce the bill.

Democrats in the U.S. House have been conducting hearings on proposals to confiscate workers’ personal retirement accounts — including 401(k)s and IRAs — and convert them to accounts managed by the Social Security Administration.

"Do you owe the IRS more than $10,000?" commercials  have replaced Sham-Wow for ubiquitousness, indicting a huge target audience of beleaguered. taxpayers.

The solution varies, depending on the amount of enriched uranium you have in your basement, or RPGs in the garage.   A quicker fix, if we have the guts and foresight,  is unelect every taxer in the land.

With all the taxes in New York state, generic cheap cigarettes are $9.50 a pack.

That article on 401's being confiscated is from 2008, still worth a read though.

Thanks dickweed, but there is today a virtual consensus among realists that confiscating pensions will be seen as a necessity in the very near future.

Regarding 401k confiscation, you see all these condescending articles about how stupid it is to borrow from your 401k. But I wonder if people are just paying the tax (plus penalty) and putting the net into gold coins, to avoid confiscation, future tax increases, etc.

They "nationalized" all the retirement accounts in Argentina back around 2001. Had to, there was no other market for government debt down there otherwise.

When China stops buying our T-bills, I fully expect those idiots in Washington to do that to us, too. They will spin it as "protecting ordinary citizens from the vagaries of the stock market". My ass.

RtRKoF, I have a feeling everything will be confiscated, for our own good of course.

The whole country was confiscated a long time ago, and nobody did anything about it.
