Raising FICA taxes will only make the problem worse by taking more money out of the economy, allowing the pols to waste those additional taxes on their pet pork projects and adding more worthless IOUs to the unfunded trust funds.

The only way additional taxes might make the system stronger is if they were put into individual accounts with rights of survivorship. As if...

My opinion is that if people knew how much money was being taken from their potential paychecks, they'd revolt.
If you got a 15% raise this week, you'd be sooo happy. They're taking 15% {counting employer portion} of your paycheck and putting it into the hands of politicians, with no promise of anything, ever. SCOTUS decided that the $$ were not yours, even though it was call 'contributions' to your 'account'.
FDR was way worse than most people know. Some oldsters {MIL} still think he'd walk on water. Hmmm, polio... nah, but turds? Yeah.

Can you imagine the retirement account you could grow with 15% of your pay put away each week? And even pass on some smidgen of the remainder.

Read some years ago that if the monies stolen from us were actually set aside to fund our golden years, each present-day recipient of SS would get a check 2 1/2 to 3 times what they now get.

Every oldster struggling to survive on the crumbs they get each month, kneel down and thank the DemonRats from the bottom of your hearts...
