It's a good thing. Buggys went away too when the car came out.

CFL's were a temporary measure; LEDs will be cheap, burn thousands of times (lifetimes?) longer, with better color, more colors, no flicker and 1/1000th the power for the same amount of light lumens.

Don't buy by watts, buy by replacement lumens and in a few years you'll never have to change a bulb again....

The way things work in this country Tim, is new products compete in the market place. If they're accepted, the old disappear without a whimper. Not because jackbooted ass-hats shove it down reluctant throats. And, in this case, because it was part of a great energy fraud perpetrated on us, the enabling legislation should be undone; it's sponsors hanged. I mean all that in the good way, of course. :)) Except where Al Gore is concerned.

With you 100% Rodger. Not only is it a fraudulent law, it's another nail in the coffin of working Americans losing jobs and ALL that is connected to that income. Here's yer jobs stimulus Obama. Now shove it where all the rest of your great ideas come from!

The only way CFL's can get away with being called more efficient is because they claim more brightness than they really have.

Anyone who's paying attention has noticed that to get the same brightness, you have to replace an incandescent with a CFL of the next higher wattage. (60 with 75, 75 with 100, etc.)

How they ever got away with that shit defies me.

Stock up on incandecent bulbs, my friends.

Not just for your personal use, but for the immerging black market.

These thing are the new gold standard.

I hang a 60-watt bulb in the pumphouse to keep the well from freezing up in the winter. This will probably not work with CFL, LED or LMNOP bulbs.
I suspect, if the current regime really trusted the American people, we'd be able to choose what kind of stuff we wanted to buy, and the market would adjust itself accordingly.
That way, those who wanted light would buy LED, those who needed a little cheap heat would use incandescent, and those who liked a lot of government would move to UK or some *&%(ing where.
