Two Comedy Central funnymen are apparently entering into the partisan political fray with rallies of their own in the nation’s capital.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have set October 30 as the date for their respective rallies.

On Thursday night’s airing of “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart,” the comedian announced plans for a “Rally to Restore Sanity.”

“See you October 30 on the National Mall to spread the timeless message, ‘Take it down a notch for America,’ ” he said.
Stewart dubbed the event a “clarion call for rationality…”

On “The Colbert Report,” which airs immediately after Stewart’s show, Colbert fired back with plans for his “March to Keep Fear Alive.”

“Now is not the time to take it down a notch. Now is the time for all good men to freak out for freedom,” Colbert said…

MY THOUGHT -- Pocket liberals both;  John Stewart and Stephen Colbert (and every other Hollywood-type American) cringed over Glen Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally.  At the time, Stewart suggested a counter-rally, and this is it I guess.  The two are hugely popular with college kids, especially girls, so attendance ought to be respectable.   Of course this is more a USO type affair  (LSO- Liberal Service Organization in this case) than an expression of anything  meaningful.  Well, hatred is meaningful, but you know what I mean.  The media will swoon, crowds will be photo-chopped, and clips played endlessly. Liberals are about getting-even.

Anyway, my very impractical idea is this.  Everyone who showed  for Beck, comes to this deal with banners, signs and megaphones.  If the "jokes" being served-up  aren't deemed funny,  they get booed off the stage.  Ad hoc singing of patriotic songs and hymns abound. All done with eyes twinkling, of course. But, if the SIEU, Black Panthers, or other administration thugs show up, we  kill them

Yes, but it will be meaningless. It is just a rally to have a good time, but it means nothing. Other rallies have actually meant something.

"Rally to Restore Sanity"? So Stewart is a Tea-Partier now?

And Colbert is sponsoring "Keep Fear Alive"? So he must be for the status quo...

Can't we all just get along?

I hope all the libs go there instead of walking precincts, making phone calls, etc.

Of course I hope they get stuck in traffic etc. so they don't actually GET there.

I'll be doing election work. This timing of theirs is terrible for them.
